It has been a tough journey this season for 6-foot guard Grace Berger.
The 26-year-old started her WNBA career with the Indiana Fever as the team’s seventh overall pick in the 2023 draft. Berger got the chance to play alongside Caitlin Clark in the latter’s rookie campaign last year, averaging 2.8 points and 1.4 rebounds in 9.3 minutes per game.

The Fever, however, decided to move on from Berger during the offseason. They waived her contract on February 2, thereby marking the end of her two-year tenure with the squad.
Berger, who played for the Indiana Hoosiers in college, was quickly claimed by the Minnesota Lynx after she parted ways with the Fever, only to be released again just days before opening night.

Berger found a new team on June 17 after she signed a deal with the Los Angeles Sparks. She played just one game for L.A. before getting waived just three days after signing.

On July 16, Berger signed with the Dallas Wings on a seven-day hardship contract amid the team’s injury woes. She played 10 minutes in their 87-63 blowout win against the Seattle Storm on Tuesday, but was released a day later.
Berger’s release from the Wings represents the fourth time she’s been waived by a WNBA team this season, in the span of just five months.
It is clear that Berger hasn’t done enough to earn herself a permanent roster spot in the four stops she’s had so far this season. However, the fact that WNBA teams continue to sign her is a testament to how the Louisville, Kentucky native is capable of playing at the highest level. As such, don’t be surprised if Berger ends up suiting up for a fifth squad this season.
