Caitlin Clark’s injury did little to stop her from lecturing a WNBA ref.
In case you missed it, Clark will be out at least two weeks with a left quad strain. It’s unclear what caused the injury, but head coach Stephanie White told the media that Clark alerted the Fever staff that she was in some pain following a game against the New York Liberty on May 24. An MRI revealed a strain, signaling that the Indiana guard would need time to rest and recover.Of course, that meant the Fever would have to lean on their depth while Clark was out, and it also meant that Clark would have to watch from the bench. If you know anything about Caitlin Clark, it’s that she’s obsessed with basketball. So, asking her not to play is probably the worst possible form of torture.

MORE CAITLIN CLARK: Caitlin Clark is a big reason why the WNBA will be just fine in her injury absence
As you can imagine, on a night when the Fever did not look like their usual selves against the Washington Mystics, Clark couldn’t help but lecture a ref from the sidelines (despite not playing) to advocate for her team. At some point, she walked out onto the court to give nearby officials an earful and seemingly didn’t stop until she made her point.
Honestly, no one should be surprised by this. This is 100 percent on-brand activity from Clark.
Before the WNBA season even started, she trolled an NBA ref during a t-shirt toss. She also made sure to troll officials at an Iowa Hawkeyes game on one occasion and yell at them from the stands during another. It’s kind of what she does. The referees will make the calls, and Clark will let them know whether she agrees or not.

At this point, we’re only surprised she didn’t get a technical foul from the bench.
