Caitlin Clark’s New Teammate Sends Strong Message After Joining Indiana Fever

The Indiana Fever didn’t have a first-round pick in the 2025 WNBA draft, but they did have three selections spread out over the final two rounds. They used their first pick, the No. 19 overall selection, on Florida State Seminoles forward Makayla Timpson, and she’s already fired up to get to work with Caitlin Clark and the rest of the Fever squad.

Timpson spent four seasons with Florida State, and she continually improved every year, finishing things off by averaging 17.5 points, 10.6 rebounds, and one assist per game this year. After picking Timpson, Indiana’s general manager, Amber Cox, explained what they are hoping she brings to the team.

“Makayla Timpson is someone that we had really high on our draft board, so when she fell to us at 19, [we were] thrilled,” Cox said on Monday. “[She was] the only player to average a double-double in points [and] rebounds, and then three blocks a game. Incredible wingspan at 6’10”, [and] a defensive powerhouse.”

The Fever have spent the offseason working on building their roster around Clark, and Timpson certainly has the potential to help out. Just days after getting drafted, Timpson made it clear she’s ready to hit the ground running in a message she issued to the fans of her new team.

“Hey Fever fans, it’s Makayla Timpson. I’m very grateful for this opportunity. To the coaches and to the staff, thank you for drafting me, and to the fans, I’m super excited to meet you guys and be a part of this community. I can’t wait to get to Indy. Let’s get to work,” Timpson said in a video posted to the Fever’s X account.
