Pro Swim Series Sacramento, Day 3 Finals: Carles Coll Marti Claims 200 Breast

The 200-stroke events at the Pro Swim Series in Sacramento this weekend are in the spotlight, with semifinals in addition to prelims.

On the women’s side Friday night, that favored youth. In the men’s, it was to the advantage of a veteran.

Carles Coll Marti won the men’s 200 breaststroke, his time of 2:11.21 keeping pace with his pack-leading times in prelims and semifinals.

All the action from Friday night’s session:

Women’s 200 breaststroke

The youngest swimmer in the field, 16-year-old Mikayla Tan, took home the win with a time of 2:26.35, .02 quicker than she was in prelims for a field in which that was not a given. Tan was third at the midway point but steadily reeled in the lead.

Second place went to Aliz Kalmar in 2:27.86. Katie Cristopherson was third in 2:29.84, 1.1 seconds up on Adalene Robillard.

The leader at the midway point, Silge Slyngstadli, slipped to seventh.
