The Detroit Pistons’ search for more shooting and perimeter creation has reportedly made Isaiah Stewart available in trade discussions, with several playoff teams showing interest in the versatile big man.
According to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, the Boston Celtics, San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat are among teams monitoring Stewart’s situation. Fischer’s report came while discussing Minnesota’s interest in Derrick White, noting that Boston has previously inquired about Rudy Gobert and is exploring frontcourt options.
Stewart’s availability comes after Detroit completed a major turnaround season, finishing 60-22 and earning the Eastern Conference’s No. 1 seed. The Pistons eventually fell to the Cleveland Cavaliers in seven games in the conference semifinals after taking a 2-0 series lead, a result that highlighted the need for additional offensive creation around Cade Cunningham.
The 25-year-old Stewart remained an important piece of Detroit’s rotation in 2025-26. He averaged 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in 22.7 minutes per game while shooting 55.0% from the field across 58 appearances. His ability to defend multiple frontcourt positions allowed him to play alongside Jalen Duren or operate as the primary interior defender with second units.
Stewart’s contract also increases his appeal. He is entering the third season of a four-year, $60 million extension and has two years remaining, including a team option on the final season. That gives potential suitors a productive defensive big on a predictable salary structure.
For Detroit, moving Stewart would not be a decision based on declining production. Duren became a major part of the franchise’s future, averaging 19.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in 70 starts, while veteran reserve Paul Reed could take on a larger role. The Pistons appear to be weighing whether Stewart’s value as a trade asset can help address their biggest roster need: perimeter offense.
Boston’s interest would make sense given its defensive identity and frontcourt rotation. The Celtics finished 56-26 and held the No. 2 seed in the East, but adding another physical interior defender next to players such as Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown could strengthen their playoff flexibility.
Miami has also been aggressive in exploring roster upgrades after finishing 43-39 and entering the Play-In Tournament. A player like Stewart would fit the Heat’s long-standing preference for versatile defenders who can handle difficult matchups.
San Antonio’s interest adds another Western Conference contender to the mix. The Spurs reached the 2026 NBA Finals before losing to the New York Knicks and could view Stewart as another physical frontcourt option alongside their developing core.
