The Big Ten conference had quite the presence in last week’s first CFP rankings, as the conference had four of its teams make up a third of the newly expanded 12-team College Football Playoff bracket.
That’s a trend that should continue in Tuesday night’s second CFP rankings unveil, which will take place between the Champions Classic college basketball doubleheader in Atlanta between Kansas-Michigan State and Duke-Kentucky.
Oregon remains in the driver’s seat for the No. 1 seed after the Ducks defeated Maryland to move to 10-0 on the season. On Sunday, Dan Lanning’s squad was ranked as the No. 1 team in the nation in both the US LBM Coaches and AP Top 25 poll for the fourth consecutive week.

One Big Ten team that could see a drastic rise in Tuesday’s CFP rankings from last week is Indiana, which moved up to No. 6 in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll.
First-year coach Curt Cignetti has the Hoosiers playing as one of the hottest teams in the country after moving to 10-0 last week for the first time in program history. Indiana is idle in Week 12, preparing for a pivotal Week 13 game vs Ohio State, which was ranked as the No. 2 team in the CFP top 25 last week.
So, where will Big Ten teams come in at in Tuesday’s CFP rankings? That question will be answered by the CFP selection committee Tuesday night.

Toppmeyer on why Indiana was left off his projections for this week after the Hoosiers were on it last week: “Ole Miss beating Georgia crowds the cue of teams with credentials for at-large consideration. Indiana looks the part of playoff team, but its modest strength of schedule leaves it vulnerable.
Tennessee lacks a deep list of signature wins, but beating Alabama remains a feather in the Vols’ cap that Indiana can’t match unless it upsets Ohio State in Columbus.”
