The Chargers continue to add new starters that won’t affect the compensatory pick formula.
After the team nabbed center Tyler Biadasz who was released by Washington in late February, the Bolts are now adding former Dolphins fullback Alec Ingold who was recent released by Miami. The Chargers are giving Ingold a two-year, $7.5 million deal that makes him one of the highest-paid fullbacks in the league.
Ingold spent his first three NFL seasons with the Raiders after going undrafted out of Wisconsin in 2019. He’s been with the Dolphins the previous four seasons where he earned a nod to the Pro Bowl in 2023. In his seven-year career, Ingold has recorded 611 receiving yards on 75 receptions with four touchdowns. He also has 56 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

It’s likely a move like this means Scott Matlock’s time has come as the team’s starting fullback. Now that the offense is switching from a power run game to a wide zone scheme, the Chargers need a lead blocker with the athleticism to get out into space and block on the run.
Once the news broke that Ingold was released, this signing seemed inevitable. With another new starter signed for the offense, the group that will play around Justin Herbert in 2026 is beginning to become more and more clear.
