Charles Johnson steps in against Bruno Silva at UFC Fight Night 269

Charles Johnson won’t get to step in against Brandon Moreno, but he has a fight.

Lone’er Kavanagh was pulled out of his fight against Bruno Silva at UFC Fight Night 269 to replace Asu Almabayev against Moreno in the UFC Fight Night 268 headliner on Feb. 28 at Arena CDMX in Mexico City.

With Silva now needing a new opponent, Johnson has stepped in to face him on March 14 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas (Paramount+). Both fighters confirmed the news on social media after an initial report from Laerte Viana.

Johnson (18-8 MMA, 7-6 UFC) will make a quick turnaround after suffering a first-round TKO loss to former title challenger Alex Perez at UFC 324 last month. Prior to that, he scored a come-from-behind knockout of Kavanagh at UFC Fight Night 257.

Brazil’s Silva (15-7-2 MMA, 5-4 UFC) snapped a two-fight losing skid with a third-round submission of Hyun Sung Park at UFC Fight Night 262 this past October.

With the change, the UFC Fight Night 269 lineup now includes:
