Chase Hooper vs. Mitch Ramirez UFC Fight Night 281 preview

Hooper (16-5-1 MMA, 8-5 UFC) looks to get back on track after dropping two straight against Alexander Hernandez and Lance Gibson Jr. His last win was a unanimous decision over Jim Miller, which was the last in a five-fight winning streak.

Ramirez (8-3 MMA, 0-2 UFC) is also on a two-fight skid, losing his UFC debut in March 2024 and his sophomore appearance last July. His most recent win was a first-round finish of Aireon Tavarres in December 2023.

Chase Hooper vs. Mitch Ramirez UFC Fight Night 281 expert pick, prediction

Filling out the main card is a lightweight fight between Chase Hooper and Mitch Ramirez.

Hooper missed weight by a pound and a half on Friday, but this proceeds as scheduled.

Even though the weight miss is certainly a bad look for Hooper, I still can’t help but think that this booking is your classic “get right” spot. Although Ramirez looks like he could have the power to replicate past performances by putting Hooper out, “The Fight Stalker” seems to be a do-or-die fighter who is not beyond giving away bad positions.

Should Ramirez get stuck scrambling with Hooper and expose his back, then expect “The Dream” to eventually break his foe down.

The official pick is for Hooper to survive the early storm en route to a stoppage win in Round 3.
