Chicago Sky vs. Indiana Fever Game: How to Watch on May 17

Rookie guard Caitlin Clark and forward Angel Reese transformed the WNBA last year in their first professional seasons.

Both landed on the All-Star and All-Rookie teams for their efforts on the court. Clark led the league with 8.4 assists per game and Reese led the WNBA with 13.1 rebounds per contest.

The intense competition between these two young stars dates back to their college days. Reese and her LSU teammates famously knocked off Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes in the 2023 NCAA National Championship Game.

Another chapter in this storied rivalry began last season when Reese and the Chicago Sky took on Clark and the Indiana Fever in four matchups throughout the season.

These two up-and-coming franchises will kick off their 2025 WNBA seasons by facing off once again. Saturday’s matchup will be the first of five games that the two teams are set to play this season.

Courtney Vandersloot, Rebecca Allen and Elizabeth Williams are expected to be key bench pieces for the Sky. The Fever should get great minutes out of Lexie Hull.

Do not be surprised to see Sky rookie Hailey Van Lith or Fever rookie Makayla Timpson factor into the rotation either.

Sky Injury Report:

Hailey Van Lith — QUESTIONABLE (Ankle)
Moriah Jefferson — OUT (Leg)

Fever Injury Report:

Sophie Cunningham — OUT (Ankle)

Van Lith’s status for the game is currently unknown, but the Sky will be without Moriah Jefferson, a deep piece of their bench. Sophie Cunningham being out for the Fever is a major blow, as she was one of the team’s best offseason additions.

This should be an exciting matchup, as both the Sky and Fever made several key offseason additions. Most notably, both teams are led by new head coaches, as Tyler Marsh is now in Chicago and Stephanie White is in charge for the Fever.

Neither team wants to start off the year with a loss, and each game will be incredibly important in what should be a tight WNBA playoff race.

Clark and Reese are always must-see TV when they face off, and Saturday should be no different.
