‘College GameDay’ headed to Tuscaloosa for biggest Alabama-Auburn basketball game yet

by

For just the second time ever, ESPN’s “College GameDay” is headed to Tuscaloosa: for basketball.

The GameDay crew, led by host and UA alum Rece Davis, will be at Coleman Coliseum for next Saturday’s game between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers. Both teams are ranked in the top five and enter the weekend as projected No. 1 seeds for the NCAA Tournament.

Auburn is No. 1 in the polls while Alabama is No. 3. Tipoff for Alabama vs. Auburn on Feb. 15 is scheduled for 3 p.m. CT. The game will be televised on ESPN.

GameDay’s first visit to Tuscaloosa for basketball came only last year on March 2 when Nate Oats’ Crimson Tide faced the Tennessee Volunteers in a prime time tipoff at Coleman Coliseum. Tennessee prevailed, 81-74.

GameDay also visited Tuscaloosa on Sept. 28 of last year when Alabama football hosted the Georgia Bulldogs. Alabama won 41-34 in an instant classic.

Next Saturday’s Iron Bowl of Basketball showdown between the Tide and Tigers is already sold out. The cheapest resale ticket is currently listed at $301, per StubHub.

Alabama (19-3 overall, 8-1 SEC) is in Fayetteville today to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks at 7:30 p.m. CT on ESPN. Auburn (21-1, 9-0) is at home to take on the No. 6 Florida Gators in another top 10 showdown (3 p.m. CT, ESPN2).
