Colorado among select group with interesting 2026 schedule note

by

When Colorado football’s official 2026 schedule was released a week ago, we highlighted the difficulty of the Buffaloes’ opening stretch as one of our key takeaways from the full slate. The Buffs’ schedule might seem even more daunting when comparing it to the rest of the Power Four programs.

Colorado is one of five teams that will play 11 Power Four opponents next season, joining Boston College, Georgia Tech, Louisville and Purdue. CU is the only one in that group with two Power Four road games in nonconference play. Needless to say, the Buffaloes will be challenged plenty, especially early on.

To recap the Buffs begin the year at Georgia Tech (Sept. 5), followed by a home game vs. FCS’s Weber State then a road game against Northwestern (Sept. 19) and a road game at Baylor (Sept. 26). IOf that wour game stretch wasn’t tough enouhg, Colorado caps it off with a home game versus the defending Big 12 champions, Texas Tech on Oct. 3. Fortunately, that five game stint ends with the program’s lone bye week.

A 3-2 start to the season would be a significant achievement for the Buffs, positioning them well for at least six wins, if not more. With the 2026 roster essentially set after the transfer portal window, Colorado has begun its winter conditioning program to prepare the team for spring ball, which is expected to start in March.

  • Oct. 24 at Oklahoma State

  • Nov. 28 vs. Central Florida
