Building off a stellar weekend in the transfer portal during which the Virginia Cavaliers women’s basketball team landed a pair of key bigs, Coach Mox kept the momentum going with a commitment from South Florida transfer guard Romi Levy on Monday afternoon.

A 6-foot-3 guard from Herzliya, Israel, with one year of eligibility remaining, Levy will arrive in Charlottesville with a wealth of college basketball experience under her belt. A big guard who works well out of the post against smaller defenders, Levy averaged 11.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game during her two-year career at USF and earned AAC Newcomer of the Year in 2023-24.
Before her time with the Bulls, Levy spent three years at Auburn (she missed the entirety of the 2021-22 season due to a torn ACL) where she earned 2021 SEC All-Freshman Team honors and averaged over 20 minutes per game during the 2022-23 season.
In addition to her collegiate career, Levy helped lead the U18 Israeli national team to a bronze medal in the 2018 Women’s European Championships.
With Kymora Johnson, Paris Clark, and Olivia McGhee each returning in the backcourt, Levy figures to be a great depth piece and an important veteran presence next season. At 6-foot-3, Levy is also a pesky defender (she averaged just under one steal per game this past season) and can clean up the glass extremely well for a guard — a perfect complement to the athleticism of Johnson and Clark.

After a slow start to the offseason, Levy is now the fourth transfer to commit to Virginia in the past week, joining UCF forward Adeang Ring, NC State center Caitlin Weimar, and LSU forward Sa’Myah Smith.
But with five outgoing transfers (Latasha Lattimore, Edessa Noyan, Payton Dunbar, Casey Valenti-Paea, and Hawa Doumbaya) and a nice NIL budget to work with thanks to Reddit co-founder and UVA alum Alexis Ohanian’s sizable donation to the program this past December, look for Coach Mox and the ’Hoos to continue making splashes in the portal in the coming days.
