Conor McGregor: ‘I am better than ever’

by

Former two-division champion Conor McGregor will return to the octagon on July 11 in the UFC 329 main event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. It’ll have been five years since he last fought when he makes the walk to the cage to face former BMF titleholder Max Holloway in a rematch during the fight promotion’s annual International Fight Week.

McGregor hasn’t fought since UFC 264 in July 2021 when he lost to Dustin Poirier after suffering a gruesome leg injury. It was his second consecutive loss to “The Diamond” and the Irishman has been on the sidelines since.

McGregor and Holloway first fought at UFC Fight Night 26 in August 2013. The bout took place on the preliminary fight card and in the featherweight division. The Irishman defeated Holloway via unanimous decision in a fight that he tore his ACL and relied on grappling. The rematch will take place in the welterweight division.

On Thursday, McGregor released a statement via social media thanking those who have supported him and claims to be better than he’s ever been. Read full statement below.

“Thank you for all the love, support, and encouragement over the last few days, people! ❤️

I am feeling very energised entering intense training camp because of it! 💪
