Conor McGregor tore not one, but two ligaments in his right knee at UFC 329.

On social media Sunday, McGregor (22-7 MMA, 10-5 UFC) revealed he tore his ACL (as UFC CEO Dana White said Saturday) but also his meniscus. It’s the same injury he suffered in his first meeting against Max Holloway in 2013, just in the opposite knee.

McGregor also added that he’s walking without assistance and expects to be back in action in summer 2027.

“Update: It was ACL and meniscus,” McGregor wrote. “It is the same injury as the first Holloway fight, only this time the opposite leg. Quite shocking. I returned to competition within 9 months to fight Diego Brandao back then. With today’s regenerative medicine advancements and improved training methods it is well within my realm to return by next summer. I am walking without a crutch. I done leg extension machine work the other day to no issue. So I can walk without aid, and activate my quad under resistance. All very positive.

“I am maximum discipline and have maintained it fully since the bout. I wonder was I saved from something worse here. I believe so. I would have attended the after party as “the man” and who knows then. I believe I was saved. Thank you God! On we go, no sad stories. Thank you for the support and well wishes everyone, your health is your wealth.”

McGregor, 38, competed for the first time in five years July 11, but his rematch vs. Holloway (28-9 MMA, 24-9 UFC) only lasted 69 seconds after he damaged his knee attempting a running kick at the start of the fight. McGregor plans to undergo surgery but it’s unclear when the procedure or procedures will take place.
