A pair of top-five UFC bantamweights will square off when Cory Sandhagen and Deiveson Figueiredo step into the octagon. Their 135-pound fight scheduled for five rounds will take place Saturday, May 3 at UFC on ESPN 67 from Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.
This headlining fight is an opportunity for Sandhagen (17-5 MMA, 104- UFC) and Figueiredo (24-4-1 MMA, 13-4-1 UFC) to make a statement that they belong squarely in the UFC bantamweight title picture after champion Merab Dvalishvili and Sean O’Malley rematch next month at UFC 316.
Sandhagen, 33, hasn’t competed since last August when he lost a unanimous decision to eventual title challenger Umar Nurmagomedov. The loss snapped a three-fight winning streak for Sandhagen.
Figueiredo, 37, is a former flyweight champion who’s gone 3-1 since moving up to bantamweight in December 2023. He had been on a three-fight winning streak against Rob Font, Cody Garbrandt and Marlon Vera before losing his most recent bout, a unanimous decision to Petr Yan last November.
