The Dallas Wings are preparing to start a new WNBA season in which they will become one of the main attractions. After picking Paige Bueckers with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 draft, plenty of people joined the Wings’ fan base to support Bueckers.
With the Dallas Mavericks out of contention in the NBA, the Wings can fill that void and draw fans to the arena during Bueckers’ rookie season. The Wings are well aware of the opportunity this means, more so after Luka Doncic was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in February.

General manager Curt Miller is hyped up by the possibility of seeing Bueckers taking over the city and perhaps having a similar impact to Doncic when he was drafted out of Spanish giants Real Madrid in the 2018 NBA Draft.

During Wednesday’s introductory press conference, Miller showered Bueckers with praise. The executive tried to push for the UConn Huskies legend to take the torch and become one of the faces of Dallas basketball.
“I think sports bring everybody together, but I think the positivity, the momentum, just look around the building,” Miller said, via Joey Mistretta on X. The excitement that the Wings have right now. We can’t wait to build on that momentum and build it with the fanbase in the DFW area. There’s never been a greater time to be a women’s basketball fan. Catch the wave, catch the momentum! It’s coming.”
Caitlin Clark’s impact on Indiana has been remarkable, as she helped the league and the Fever set viewership and attendance records last year. Bueckers could follow through and take advantage of the void Doncic left when he was traded to Los Angeles.

The Wings return to action on May 2 for their sole preseason game against the Las Vegas Aces. They will tip off the 2025 season against the Minnesota Lynx on May 16 at College Park Center.
