Dallas Wings Make Arike Ogunbowale Announcement After Chicago Sky Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

On Thursday in Chicago, the Dallas Wings attempted to build off their first win of the season–following an 0-4 start–by picking up another road W. While they fell behind by double digits in the early going, Dallas rallied, primarily behind star scorer Arike Ogunbowale, who shot 6-for-7 from the field for 14 points in a critical third quarter that left the Wings with a five-point lead heading into the final period.

Chicago rallied for the win, though, and dropped Dallas to 1-5 in doing so. But the Sky win (their first of the season) came despite a raucous 37 points from Ogunbowale, who had the kind of breakout game the team has been waiting for.

Ogunbowale averaged 13.8 points on 30.0% shooting heading into the Chicago game. She not only scored 37, but she was especially efficient in doing so, going 14-for-25 from the field and 6-for-12 from the 3-point line.

The Wings announced that Ogunbowale not only had a game-high output, but she tied for the most points scored by anyone this season. “Ogunbowale’s 37 points match the single-game high in the @WNBA this season,” the team’s PR account wrote.

Ogunbowale was encouraged, but not satisfied.

“It looked like our chemistry took a little step, but it’s still not where we want it to be,” Ogunbowale said. “We definitely have to rebound better. I think, especially in that first quarter, that kind of set the tone. They were feeling good, then we kind of had to claw back.”

The Wings will get an opportunity to quickly exact revenge on the Sky, as Chicago will travel to Dallas on Saturday for a rematch.
