UFC 330 takes place on Saturday night back in the city of brotherly love. MMA‘s most prominent league returns to Philadelphia for the first time since 2019. Headlining the latest numbered event is the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world. Welterweight champ Islam Makhachev takes on No. 1 contender Ian Machado Garry.
While all eyes are on Philly on Saturday night, the MMA world is still buzzing about the historic UFC White House card. Of course, the fights are the main takeaway from the Freedom 250 card.

Before the fights, the White House backdrop, and all the other factors of the card took shape, there were major concerns. In the weeks leading up to the event, the biggest talking point was whether it would even take place.

Multiple reports suggested that extreme rain and thunder would be happening in Washington, D.C., during the event. This, of course, would’ve put the fight card at risk of being delayed or canceled. Even at the pre-fight press conference, there was a weather delay because of lightning.
Despite the reports and weather projections, it was clear skies, not a drop of rain at all. Since the weather was so perfect compared to projections, conspiracy theories gained traction.
Some of the UFC fans believed the U.S. government altered the weather itself, creating an environment that would be beneficial for outdoor fights.
UFC President Dana White heard all the noise and spoke on it this week.

In an interview with TMZ Sports, White was asked about the conspiracy that the military used technology to impact the weather. Whites response was very candid, saying, “I can promise you that did not happen. We thought it was hitting us. The President thought it was hitting us.”
“We weren’t using, like, the Channel 4 weather guy. We had military meteorologists all over this thing, and this guy was telling us we’re gonna get hit.”

Regardless of what anyone thinks of the event itself, the conspiracy was always just something to laugh at. Anyone who knows anything about White and how the UFC operates knows that no stone is left unturned when putting together an event.
Even before the event, White said that whether it rained or snowed, the show would go on; the event was going to happen regardless. The UFC and MMA fans around the world got lucky; that’s the reality of this, and cause of it, an all-time fight card took place.
