Parker Kligerman made a great point while addressing his followers and fellow NASCAR fans on X tonight. As seen below, Kligerman notes that the team that Kyle Busch built won the Coca-Cola 600. The comment alludes to Spire Motorsports and Daniel Suarez winning the ‘longest race in NASCAR.’

In 2009, Kyle Busch founded his NASCAR Truck Series team, Kyle Busch Motorsports. He did so in preparation for the 2010 season. Lo and behold, the next decade of racing would become glorious for the team.

The team competed in the Craftsman Truck Series for 14 seasons before its 2023 sale. The team ran 822 races between all its drivers and won 100 times.
In the fall of 2023, it was announced that Kyle Busch Motorsports had been sold to the rising team, Spire Motorsports. The team was, and still is, present in the NASCAR Cup Series.

Many reasons for the sale were cited by Busch, including his move from Toyota to Chevrolet as he transitioned from racing for Joe Gibbs Racing to Richard Childress Racing. Busch also cited the demands of his son, Brexton’s, racing schedule. Brexton Busch is coming up at the age of 11 in the dirt-racing scene and is touted as a potential NASCAR racer in the years to come.
In fact, Richard Childress Racing sidelined Busch’s No. 8 indefinitely. Richard Childress stated that the number will now wait for Brexton when he is ready.
Spire Motorsports has since burst onto the NASCAR scene as a team of the future. Owned by TWG Motorsports, the team has since won three times in the NASCAR Cup Series, with Carson Hocevar highlighting the rise with his win in April at Talladega.

In the Truck Series, Spire Motorsports has added 11 wins since 2023 and at least 3 wins in the 2024-26 seasons. Of those wins, Kyle Busch has 5, in which he continued to race part-time for the team that bought him out. Busch’s last win was on May 15 at Dover Motor Speedway.
The team that purchased Busch’s team now won their second race of the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season. In a race shortened 27 laps early due to heavy rain, Suarez found himself in an unexpected, but well-earned, first place. The early race ending handed Suarez the victory at the Coca-Cola 600.

The sudden passing of Kyle Busch on Thursday, May 21, brought the NASCAR community to a wave of emotions. NASCAR paid tribute to Busch pre-race at Charlotte Motor Speedway, with a moment of silence and kind words from NASCAR’s CEO, Steve O’Donnell. The Busch family was at the track, embraced by much of the community, in which one message was conveyed: NASCAR is a family, and the community is there for the Busch family.
In the first race since the events of last Thursday, NASCAR ran 373 of 400 total laps in the rain-shortened event. Suarez’s victory is a career-defining mark for the Spire Motorsports driver, who joined the team this past offseason. Thanks to Kligerman’s comments, we remember ‘Rowdy’ Busch once more, as his legacy was indirectly tied to this race victory in a unique yet true way.
