Daytona 500 qualifying format
Wednesday’s qualifying is just to determine the first row of the starting lineup.
All of the drivers on the entry list will have a chance to run first two spots of the starting lineup. Those two drivers will be locked into the starting spot unless they have to switch to a backup car or make other repairs to their car and drop to the back of the field.
The rest of the field will be determined by the qualifying duel races on Thursday. The first race will determine inside lane (odd-numbered positions) and the second race will determine the outside lane (even-numbered position).
When is Daytona 500?
The 67th running of the Daytona 500 is set for 1:30 p.m. CT on Sunday, Feb. 16 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona, Florida.
Who won 2024 Daytona 500?
William Byron won the 2024 Daytona 500 for Hendrick Motorsports after the race was moved to Monday, Feb. 19 due to a weather delay.
