Defending champion Fullerton leads Vegas list with clean score after two days

by

On the second day of competition at The Vegas Shoot, defending champion Mathias Fullerton continued to lead the men’s field with a perfect score of 600 with 60X.

“I can’t complain; my shooting feels amazing,” he said. “Yesterday I felt a little unsure because it’s like the first day, you never really know what to expect, but today I knew I was shooting good.“

“The bow is working perfect, [I’ve] just got to get the mind fully ready and I think it’s gonna be a good one.”

Thirty-nine compound men still had clean scores with one day – 30 arrows – to go before the end of qualifying.

Five women were also left clean on 600 from the 14 who shot a perfect 300 yesterday: defending champion Tanja Gellenthien, as well as Gracen Fletcher, Alejandra Usquiano, Jennifer Winsenne and Kaylee Geist, the latter leading the women’s field with 52X.

The recurve women’s competition was led after the second day by Victoria Sebastian on 589, two points ahead of the Casey Kaufhold on 587. The men’s competition saw Brady Ellison on top of the leaderboard with 594, just ahead of five other men on 593. Both Sebastian and Ellison shot scores of 298 on the second day of scoring.

The three days of scoring at the Vegas Shoot act as the sixth and final stage of the Indoor Archery World Series. (Previously this was assessed on the first two days’ scores.)

Once the points have been calculated, the season’s top 16 archers in the recurve men’s, recurve women’s, compound men’s and compound women’s elite rankings are invited to compete in the Indoor Archery World Series Finals. The brackets are expected to be finalised on Saturday.

Live broadcast from the Indoor Archery World Series Finals gold medal matches starts at 16h00 local time on Sunday on archery+.

Scoring for the Vegas Shoot continues on Saturday.
