Deion Sanders’ youngest child Shelomi Sanders is joining the Colorado State University Pueblo women’s basketball team as a guard, the university confirmed to USA TODAY Sports Friday, April 10.

It will be Shelomi Sanders’ fourth school since 2022, when she played for Jackson State. She then transferred to Colorado, where her father is the head football coach. She joins the Division II ThunderWolves after two seasons at Alabama A&M.

“Can’t wait to get started,” Shelomi said on a video posted by her brother Deion Sanders Jr. “Can’t wait to get to work, and I’m home y’all.”

Shelomi visited the Pueblo campus Thursday with her father and mother, Pilar. Her transfer brings her back to the state of Colorado, where her new school is about 140 miles south of her dad’s program in Boulder.

“She made a tremendous decision,” Deion Sanders said Thursday. “I’m proud of her.”

She hasn’t had much playing time in her college career but brings a big social media following as a brand influencer at age 22. At Alabama A&M, she averaged 3.9 minutes per game in 26 games in 2024-25 and 6.1 minutes per game in 15 games this past season.

She transferred to Alabama A&M from Colorado in 2024, which initially displeased her father, who then called her decision to transfer “stupid.”  She played in only five games with the Buffaloes with three points scored as a non-scholarship player – all coming on a 3-point she made against Air Force in December 2023.

Deion Sanders didn’t want her to leave him in Boulder then, where his three sons were with him at the time. Shelomi is the youngest of his five children with two former wives, including his eldest daughter Deiondra, eldest son Deion Jr., former football player Shilo and youngest son Shedeur Sanders, currently a quarterback with the NFL’s Cleveland Browns.

But now she’s back in the Centennial State. CSU Pueblo finished 13-15 in 2025-26. Adding Sanders will increase the spotlight on the ThunderWolves. She has nearly 500,000 followers on Instagram and more than 300,000 on TikTok.

“Excited to have a dynamic guard here on campus to help take us to a new level next year,” CSU Pueblo coach Tommie Johnson said on the video from Deion Jr.  “Expecting big things out of her, not just on the court, but off the court. A leader, gym rat, high IQ, My kind of kid.”
