Here’s 6x NBA All-Star DeMar DeRozan on bringing his high-level professionalism to the Sacramento Kings over these last two seasons.
(via Sacramento Kings):
“I never take any type of opportunity in life for granted. So just to have the opportunity to come here and play, to be wanted, means everything to me. We only get so long to play this game, and if people on the outside really understood the sacrifices that us as athletes put into this game, they’ll understand. I know for me personally, a lot of stuff I’ve been through personally in my life, I never try to let that be a distraction when it come to the workplace and I try to always give my all to it.
“But it’s a lot of lonely days, it’s a lot of frustration that go into… a lot of times we sacrifice being away from family, dealing with personal things, and still try to come out and compete, be available. So to me, it’s always deeper than just what people could look at it on the stat sheet. For me, I never take any type… that’s why I play so much and I try to be available no matter what because I don’t take any type of game, moment, for granted because, s***… excuse my language, but I made it out of Compton, California playing basketball. And to say I’ve been doing this for 17 years, man, it’s beyond a blessing.”
