DeWanna Bonner moves up to seventh all-time in the WNBA for steals

Former Auburn women’s basketball and Phoenix Mercury forward DeWanna Bonner moves up to seventh all-time for steals in the WNBA after her performance against the Los Angeles Sparks.

The Auburn legend continues to add to her legacy in the WNBA after a three-steal game against the Los Angeles Sparks. She now has 637 steals, which places her seventh on the all-time list. Bonner has her name in many all-time lists in the WNBA, such as being third on the all-time scoring list with 7,871 and eighth all-time in rebounds with 3,242.

The 38-year-old entered her 17th season this year, playing the majority of her career for the Phoenix Mercury (2009-2019), winning two WNBA Championships with two other stops at the Connecticut Sun (2020-2024) and Indiana Fever (2025).

She returned to the Mercury on July 8, 2025, playing a big part in the Mercury’s push for a playoff birth that season. Her career also includes playing overseas in the Czech Republic, Spain, and Russia. Bonner was drafted fifth overall in the 2009 WNBA Draft.

The Fairfield native starred at Auburn, playing four seasons for the Tigers. She earned SEC All-Freshman Team, First Team All-SEC three times, SEC All-Defensive Team, and SEC Player of the Year.
