The Dodgers made a trade on Monday, acquiring relief pitcher Seth Halvorsen from the Colorado Rockies for pitcher Nick Frasso and minor league outfielder Landyn Vidourek.
Halvorsen has been on the injured list with right shoulder inflammation since July 4, but he just started a rehab assignment with a scoreless inning on Sunday for Triple-A Albuquerque. The 26-year-old has a 4.74 ERA and 7.03 xERA in 21 games for the Rockies this season, with 17 strikeouts and 15 walks in 19 innings. In parts of three seasons in the majors, Halvorsen has a 4.31 ERA and 4.76 xERA in 75 appearances, all in relief, with 66 strikeouts and 38 walks in 71 innings.

So far this season, Halvorsen’s average fastball velocity of 98.8 mph has him in the 98th percentile among major league pitchers. Last season, he averaged 100 mph which was in the 100th percentile.
Frasso was added to the Dodgers’ 40-man roster on June 6 after signing a minor league deal in December. Halvorsen will take that spot on the 40-man roster. Frasso has yet to make his major league debut, but the 27-year-old has a 4.74 ERA with 40 strikeouts and 17 walks in 24 2/3 innings for Triple-A Oklahoma City this season.
The Dodgers drafted Vidourek in the third round last year out of Cincinnati. The 22-year-old this year has struggled with Class-A Ontario, hitting .170/.332/.311 with six home runs, nine doubles, and a triple in 59 games, with a 19.1-percent walk rate but also a 38.7-percent strikeout rate, the latter the highest by any Dodgers minor leaguer with at least 100 plate appearances this season.
Halvorsen entered this season with one year, 31 days of major league service time. Given how much time he’s spent in Triple-A already this season, even if he was active or on the injured list for the rest of 2026, he’d fall just shy of two years of service time after this season. Which means he’s potentially an addition who could provide flexible bullpen depth for a few years, if the performance allows. He’s using his first of three option years in 2026, and has thus far been optioned to Triple-A twice this season. Teams are allowed to option a player to the minors five times in season.
