The Kings have struggled this season, holding a 22-59 record that ranks among the league’s worst.

Despite some uncertainty surrounding his future, the team plans to keep head coach Doug Christie through the offseason, sources told Sam Amick of The Athletic.

Christie initially took over as interim coach in December 2024 after Mike Brown was fired, then was promoted to the full-time role last summer on a three-year deal with two guaranteed seasons.

According to Amick, Sacramento doesn’t feel this season was a fair evaluation of Christie, given roster limitations and multiple injuries to key players.

Anthony Slater of ESPN confirmed the report, adding that the Kings were encouraged by the development of their younger players under Christie.

Looking ahead, Sacramento is expected to revisit trade talks involving veterans like Zach LaVine, Domantas Sabonis, Malik Monk, and DeMar DeRozan.

The Kings had “extensive talks” with Toronto about Sabonis before the trade deadline but were unwilling to take on Jakob Poeltl’s contract.

The team has yet to decide on DeRozan’s future, with only $10MM of his $25.74MM salary for next season guaranteed.
