Of all the tales told about Conor McGregor comebacks, none have come true yet. So take this with a grain of salt, perhaps.
The former UFC fighter said Tuesday he’s been drug tested, a necessary step to get back into the anti-doping pool before another fight. McGregor posted a video on social media in his underwear, which is nothing impressive or new. But in this one, he showed off a small bandage near his shoulder he claimed is from his first drug test en route to another fight in the UFC.
McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC) has not fought since he broke his leg in a second straight knockout loss to Dustin Poirier more than four years ago. He was supposed to return against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in June 2024, but pulled out after he broke his baby toe.
Most McGregor headlines have been about his brushes with the law; his liability conviction for a sexual assault outside his marriage; other sexual assault allegations; and just generally being an online presence enough for his clicks to stay up, but never being truly close to a return fight – despite anything he or UFC CEO Dana White ever said to the contrary.
