Embry-Riddle bumped into a familiar foe in the first round of the NCAA women’s basketball tournament.
Eckerd (24-6), which won the Sunshine State Conference regular-season title, ended the Eagles’ campaign with an 85-69 victory on March 13 in Huntsville, Alabama. As a result, the third-seeded Tritons claimed the season series with sixth-seeded ERAU 2-1.

This was Embry-Riddle’s third straight trip to the Division II big dance. It finished the year with a 22-7 record.
After the first quarter, the Eagles led 16-13. But Eckerd rattled off the first 15 points of the second quarter to jump ahead for good. It entered halftime up 38-27.
After three quarters, its lead sat at 62-46.
The Tritons featured two 20-point scorers. Ieva Korzane put up 30 points, and Emma Egan added 23 points and 11 rebounds.
Eckerd converted 50% of its shots from the field and 42.3% from 3-point land. Embry-Riddle shot 46.6% overall and 33.3% from beyond the arc. The Tritons won the turnover battle 18-9.
Eliana Sheplee paced the Eagles with 27 points.
