The Emory University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams swept the University Athletic Association (UAA) Conference Championships.
The women’s meet was extremely close with Emory scoring 1,867 points to finish just 21 ahead of New York University (1,846). Chicago was third (1,365.5), followed by WashU (1,005), Carnegie Mellon (897), Case Western Reserve (850.5), Rochester (501) and Brandeis (322).
Emory claimed the title despite winning just four events in the meet.
Emory’s Megan Jungers, Katie Cohen, Caitlin Crysel and Ava Kennedy won the 200 medley relay (1:41.52).
Crysel won the 200 IM in 2:02.62. Cohen won the 100 breaststroke (1:02.47) and 200 breaststroke (2:15.38).
NYU’s Nicole Ranile, Elle Motekaitis, Caitlin Marshall and Kaley McIntyre won the 800 free relay in 7:14.56. Hope Xayaveth, McIntyre, Natsuki Uchino and Isabel Oldham won the 200 free relay (1:32.34). Ranile, Anna Li, Xayaveth and McIntyre won the 400 medley relay (3:38.21).
Marshall won the 500 free (4:51.78). McIntyre won the 50 free (22.62), 100 free (48.58) and 200 free (1:46.15). Calista Lynch won the 400 IM (4:21.74). Ranile won the 100 butterfly (54.23), 200 fly (1:58.64) and 100 backstroke (54.08).
Ranile, Motekaitis, Oldham and McIntyre won the 400 free relay in 3:20.04.
Chicago’s Veronica Fong won 3-meter diving (494.25). Case Western Reserve’s Abigail Wilkov won 1-meter (482.65).
Carnegie Mellon’s Savannah Xu won the 200 backstroke (2:00.43).
The Emory men won with 1,682 points. NYU was second with 1,586.5, followed by Chicago (1,448), Carnegie Mellon (1,111.5), WashU (1,020.5), Case Western Reserve (810.5), Rochester (495) and Brandeis (322).
Emory’s Zachary Spicer, Henri Bonnault, Jeff Echols and Colin Zexter won the 400 medley relay (3:11.56). Nolan Lahmann, Bonnault, Echols and Dylan Yin won the 200 medley relay (1:27.81).
Emory’s Solomon Berkenwald won 1-meter diving with 504.10 points and 3-meter (573.10). Ben Pritchard won the 500 free (4:24.61). McKee Thorsen won the 200 free (1:37.65). Bonnault won the 100 breast (52.71). Liyang Sun won the 200 breast (1:56.50).
NYU’s Max Nechydyuk, Connor Vincent, Kevin Wu and Pierce Downs won the 800 free relay in 6:30.99. Nechydyuk won the 400 IM (3:49.35).
Chicago’s Jonathan Tang, Ben Catton, Rylan Kruep and Sebi Vernhes won the 200 free relay (1:19.77). Vernhes won the 50 free (20.09) and 100 free (43.63). Cooper Costello won the 100 fly (46.59) and 200 fly (1:44.31). Costello, Igor Benderskii, John Butler and Vernhes won the 400 free relay (2:55.11).
Carnegie Mellon’s Brayden Morford won the 200 IM (1:45.89) and 100 back (47.54).
WashU’s Kyle Wolford won the 200 back (1:44.67).
