The player who helped Caitlin Clark adjust to WNBA life is moving on. Erica Wheeler has signed with the Seattle Storm.
Wheeler primarily came off the bench for the Indiana Fever last year, but spent plenty of time advising Clark — and some of that shielding her from picking up technical fouls.
The 33-year-old had two stints with Indiana. She played for the Fever from 2016-19, earning an All-Star berth in ’19. Wheeler returned to Indiana in 2023 as the starting point guard and backed up Clark after she was picked No. 1 overall in the 2024 draft.
Wheeler averaged 8.5 points and 3.8 assists in her six Fever seasons, scoring 1,830 points (sixth in franchise history) with 815 assists (third).
