ESPN assigns top broadcast crew to Saturday’s Alabama-Auburn basketball game

ESPN is sending its college basketball A-team to Tuscaloosa for Saturday’s No. 1 vs. No. 2 matchup between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers.

The broadcast team of Dan Shulman (play-by-play) and Jay Bilas (analyst) will have the TV call of Alabama-Auburn on ESPN. Jess Sims will report from the sidelines and handle in-game and halftime interviews with coaches.

Tipoff for Saturday’s game is scheduled for 3 p.m. CT, with “College GameDay” broadcasting from Coleman Coliseum beginning at 9 a.m.

The Crimson Tide (21-3 overall, 10-1 SEC), ranked No. 1 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, are seeking their eighth straight win after beating the Texas Longhorns 103-80 Tuesday night in Austin.

Jarin Stevenson led Alabama with a career-high 22 points, and the Tide had five players finish in double figures, including Mark Sears and Aden Holloway who had 18 apiece. Lebaron Philon added 15 points and Mouhamed Dioubate had 13. Nate Oats’ team connected on 17 3-pointers and shot over 61 percent (34-of-55) from the field against Texas.

Auburn (22-2, 10-1), No. 1 in the AP poll, defeated Vanderbilt 80-68 Tuesday night in Nashville behind 21 points from Denver Jones. Chaney Johnson added 20 and star forward Johni Broome finished with 17.

The Tigers top both the NET rankings and KenPom ratings. Alabama is No. 6 in both.

Alabama vs. Auburn basketball series history at a glance

Alabama and Auburn will be meeting for the 171st time in a series that dates back to 1924. The Crimson Tide lead the all-time series, 102-68. Alabama has won four of five meetings vs. Auburn in Coleman Coliseum since Oats’ first season in 2019-20, including last year’s 79-75 win on Jan. 24. Oats is 6-4 in 10 meetings vs. Auburn.
