Three straight losses have plagued the Auburn Tigers into a 2-4 overall record. As they now enter this weekend fresh off of a bye week, a lot of things need to turn around if the boys from the Plains even want to make a bowl game.
That future does not look so probable as of now, as the metrics do not favor Auburn to come out victorious on Saturday when it takes the field against the Missouri Tigers.
According to the ESPN Football Power Index and matchup predictor, Auburn only has a 32.5% chance to take down Missouri at Faurot Field. If that percentage becomes reality, it would be its fourth consecutive loss this season.
However, since the opening metrics were released, numbers have gone down. BetMGM opened the spread at -6.5 in favor of the boys from Columbia, but it has since dropped down to -4. Likewise, the over/under was originally placed at 51.5 total points, but is now at 50.5, indicating more of a possible defensive battle.
Missouri’s offense ranks ninth in the SEC in average total yards at 434 yards per game, ranking two spots below Auburn. It’s rushing offense, though, beats out Auburn by a large margin at 187.5 yards per game, ranking it sixth in the conference.
Missouri’s defense has been impressive all year as well, giving up just an average of 270.8 yards per game, good enough for fourth amongst other teams in the SEC. This could pose a problem for Auburn’s offense, which has struggled to finish drives overall this year.
