The Indiana Fever took the court for the second time in 2025 on Sunday, following their preseason opener on Saturday. All eyes were on reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark—not just because it was her first game since last season’s finale, but because it was held at her alma mater, the University of Iowa.

Over her four seasons in Iowa City, Clark led the Hawkeyes to multiple Big Ten titles and two national championship game appearances, while averaging 28.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 8.2 assists per game. Along the way, she became the all-time leading scorer in Division I history.

Clark was welcomed back to Carver-Hawkeye Arena by a sold-out crowd as she and the Fever defeated the Brazil national team, 108–44. The 23-year-old finished with 16 points, six rebounds and five assists.

This game was one of a few WNBA preseason matchups hosted on college campuses, giving teams a chance to embrace the collegiate roots of their stars. The Chicago Sky also faced the Brazil national team, playing their game at LSU, which was the home of rookie Angel Reese.

On Monday, after the dust had settled, the Fever took to social media to thank Clark for her hospitality.

“thanks for showing us your home, Caitlin Clark,” the Fever wrote.
