Fever’s WNBA Title Odds Raise Eyebrows as Caitlin Clark Heads into Second Year

The Indiana Fever started Caitlin Clark’s rookie campaign with a five-game losing streak and posted just a 1-8 record through their first nine outings. But then, Clark found her footing.

Indiana finished the remainder of the season on a 20-12 tear and found itself in the WNBA playoffs as the No. 6 seed. The Fever, led by young players in Clark and second-year star Aliyah Boston, fell to the No. 3 seed Connecticut Sun 0-2 in a best-of-five first-round series.

But the franchise still made a statement with its run through the 2024 campaign: the Fever are coming. And according to the WNBA championship odds listed by ESPN BET on Monday, April 28, Indiana is already poised to arrive.

The sportsbook listed the Fever as plus-350 to win the title in Clark’s second year, which equates to a little better than a 22% chance at a ring. That figure ties the Fever with the Las Vegas Aces for the second-best odds at a championship in 2025.

The only franchise with a better shot, per ESPN BET, is the New York Liberty at plus-250 (28.5% chance). New York captured the title last season over the Minnesota Lynx, who have the fourth-best odds to win the 2025 title at plus-400. The Aces won back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023.

That Indiana is a contender isn’t entirely surprising, given how well Clark played throughout her rookie campaign combined with the logical notion that both she and Boston should improve significantly considering how early they are in their professional careers.

Clark finished 2024 with averages of 19.2 points, 8.4 assists, 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals on 41.7% shooting from the floor and a 34.4% clip from behind the 3-point arch. She captured WNBA Rookie of the Year honors and also earned a spot on the All-WNBA First-Team — one of just five players league-wide to win that honor.

Considering that level of success and predicting at least an incremental leap in performance in 2025, Clark should be considered a top MVP candidate headed into just her second year as a pro.

Indiana cleaned house at the top of the organization during the offseason, installing Kelly Krauskopf as the new team president and Amber Cox as the new general manager, while Stephanie White will serve as the new head coach. White has coached the team before (2014-15).

The Fever also added several new players to the roster through free agency and the recent WNBA draft, though the core trio of Clark, Boston and Kelsey Mitchell are all back in 2025.
