Five QB targets every Florida Gators fan should be tracking

by

Quarterback recruiting is taking center stage for the Florida football program this spring as the Gators eye multiple high-profile targets on their 2027 recruiting board. With visits underway, Jon Sumrall and his staff are positioning themselves to land a game-changing signal-caller to anchor the class.

Leading the board is four-star recruit Davin Davidson, a 6-foot-6-inch, 215-pound prospect out of Sarasota, Florida. The in-state product ascended national rankings after a breakout junior season at Cardinal Mooney High School. The 2026 Under Armour Next camp MVP has received over 25 offers and is widely viewed as a player who can compete in the SEC. Both Miami and Kentucky are heavily involved in Davidson’s recruitment, but Florida is regarded as the frontrunner.

Another highly touted quarterback on the Gators’ agenda is Champ Monds of Vero Beach, Florida. The 6-foot-2-inch, 224-pound four-star athlete has developed a reputation for his arm talent and striking football IQ. The Gators are in the thick of his recruitment among the nation’s top programs, including Alabama, Arkansas and Auburn.

Merritt Island native and Pittsburgh commit Kevin Verpaele sits firmly on Florida’s radar as well as a four-star target. A continued push by staff to flip the 6-foot-2.5-inch, 197-pound quarterback comes with the understanding that Verpele is interested in playing close to home.

Four-star, 6-foot-4-inch, 220-pound Peter Bourque and fellow four-star, 6-foot-3-inch, 220-pound Kamden Lopati round out the group. Bourque is the No. 81 prospect nationally according to On3 industry rankings; the Marion, Massachusetts, prospect de-committed from Michigan back in February. Lopati is committed to Illinois, but has reopened his recruitment.
