Five reasons why Auburn basketball dominated Arkansas on Saturday

by

The Auburn Tigers played perhaps their best game of the 2025-26 college basketball season by defeating No. 15 Arkansas 95-73 at Neville Arena Saturday night.

It was a much-needed victory after the Tigers dropped their first two conference games heartbreakingly to Georgia and Texas A&M. Auburn will now attempt to use this as momentum for their next matchup at Missouri on Wednesday night.

Here are five key stats from Auburn’s victory over Arkansas:

Keyshawn Hall leads the way

Saturday night was another stellar performance from Keyshawn Hall. During the broadcast, analyst Dane Bradshaw mentioned that Hall would be an early SEC Player of the Year contender had the Tigers not started 0-2. If he continues to play like he did versus the Razorbacks, he will find himself up for the award. Hall scored 30 points for the second consecutive game. He was efficient with his scoring shooting 11 of 14 and was on target from the three-point line going four of five. Hall as added in five assists and two rebounds. Through three SEC games, Hall is averaging 27.3 points per game.

Auburn owned the paint

A criticism and a weakness of this Auburn team has been in the frontcourt. Saturday night that was not the case. Auburn outscored Arkansas 48-28 in the paint. Auburn scored 26 points from layups and was seven of seven on dunks. KeShawn Murphy led the scoring upfront with 16 points in the game.

Rarely trailed

Arkansas did build an early 8-6 lead after a Trevon Brazile three-pointer with 16:59 in the first half. Murphy tied the game with 16:34 remaining at 8-8. The game would remain tied for 1:08 before the Tigers took an 10-8 lead when Tahaad Pettiford scored on a layup. Auburn would not trail again during the game, and held the lead for 36:54 of game minutes.

Three-point shooting

Hall set the tone early for Auburn by connecting on two three-point shots to get his first six points. The Tigers had one of their best games of the season from three-point range connecting on 10 of 22 shots for 45%. Hall led the way with four long distance shots, and Murphy hit two on three attempts.

Sharing the ball

Auburn did a good job of sharing the ball picking up 20 assists versus just nine for Arkansas. Pettiford led the way with seven assists despite only scoring eight points. It was his first time back in the starting lineup after coming off the bench versus Georgia and Texas A&M.
