Five-star QB Jared Curtis drops top-two choices. Did Auburn make the cut?

by

Auburn was among the top six schools on the radar of five-star quarterback Jared Curtis in January. After weighing his options, Curtis has trimmed his list to two programs.

Unfortunately for Auburn, the Tigers have missed the cut. The nation’s top quarterback from the 2026 class will now focus on Georgia and Oregon for the remainder of his recruitment. Since Auburn is out of the race, Curtis has officially canceled his scheduled official visit to Auburn, which was slated to begin May 16.

Auburn jumped back into the race for Curtis following his de-commitment from Georgia last October. Curtis visited Auburn during its game against Vanderbilt and received an in-home visit from quarterback coach Kent Austin. Now, the Tigers will shift focus to other quarterback targets from the 2026 cycle.

According to 247Sports, Auburn has extended offers to 22 quarterbacks this cycle. The two quarterbacks to keep an eye on are four-star quarterback Landon Duckworth of Jackson High School (Alabama) and three-star quarterback Travis Burgess from Grayson High School (Georgia). Duckworth did not include Auburn in his top-four schools. However, he has visited Auburn four times and is expected to be high on radar until early signing day.

Burgess is an overwhelming favorite to join Auburn’s 2026 class, with an 89.6% prediction from On3. He has also stated that Auburn, Mississippi State, Virginia Tech, and Duke are his schools of focus ahead of his July commitment date.
