The month of June was scorching hot for the Texas Longhorns on the recruiting trail and now they are kicking off the month of August by staying on their recruiting heater by landing a Saturday pledge from Richmond Randle running back Landen Williams-Callis over the Houston Cougars, Missouri Tigers, SMU Mustangs, and Texas A&M Aggies.
Williams-Callis was trending towards the Longhorns recently, but that wasn’t always the case during the recruitment. Texas running backs coach Jabbar Juluke targeted Williams-Callis from the moment he arrived on campus, but it took some time for the Longhorns to gain some traction with the dynamic back.

Programs like Oregon, SMU, and Texas A&M initially had a leg up on the Longhorns, but the coaching staff, led by new running backs coach Jabbar Juluke kept chipping away and was able to secure an official visit in June.
It took the Texas staff some time to gain their footing in this recruitment, but the relentless pursuit of Williams-Callis led to them winning out and landing the commitment for one of the most dynamic and productive players in the class.
Williams-Callis gives the Longhorns their second running back commitment of the cycle, joining consensus four-star Noah Roberts, and officially closes out the position with a bang.

Williams-Callis has been ultra-productive over the past three seasons on the varsity level and has tallied over 7,500 yards on the ground along with 125 rushing touchdowns. In 2025, Williams-Callis ran for 3,502 yards and 59 rushing touchdowns. When you talk about juice and playmaking ability, Williams-Callis has it in spades.
This commitment further solidifies the Longhorns’ quest to land another top-five recruiting class and puts them in position to secure a top-three recruiting class for this cycle as the decision by Williams-Callis vaulted Texas ahead of Oklahoma for the No. 5 overall class in the 247Sports Composite rankings. Ranked as a consensus five-star, Williams-Callis is the No. 29 prospect nationally and the No. 3 running back.
