Flames Prospect Set To Make NHL Debut

The Calgary Flames will play the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center on Monday night. Prospect Rory Kerins will make his NHL debut.

Last week, the Flames lost Connor Zary to a lower-body injury. After shuffling the lines, the organization called up Kerins, the Calgary Wranglers’ leading scorer with 34 points in 34 games.

Although he participated in practice with the Flames, he did not get into the lineup for the team’s 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday at the Saddledome.

However, Kerins participated in the morning skate on Monday and found himself on the Flames’ third line beside Yegor Sharangovich and Jakob Pelletier.

According to NHL.com, Kerins is replacing Andrei Kuzmenko in tonight’s lineup.

The former sixth-round pick (174th overall) from the 2020 Draft has 38 goals and 68 points in 98 AHL games.

Interestingly, it’s been almost a year since the Flames last celebrated an NHL debut, when Adam Klapka debuted on Jan. 20, 2024, in a game against the Edmonton Oilers.
