Florida baseball drops in all three major polls after being swept

by

A series sweep at the hand of the now consensus No. 1-ranked Tennessee Volunteers has the Florida Gators ranked between Nos. 10 and 13 across three major polls.

The USA TODAY Sports Baseball Coaches Poll dropped Florida four spots to No. 11, D1Baseball Top 25 punished the Gators the most with a six-spot fall and the Perfect Game College Top 25 was the kindest to the Orange and Blue, keeping UF inside the top 10.

Based on the movement in the polls, Florida’s midweek win over a top-5 Florida State team meant little to the voters. The Gators have five games this week, two midweek home games against Jacksonville and Florida A&M, and a three-game set at home against Georgia. The Bulldogs are a consensus top-5 program, too, so a series win should get Florida back into the top 10 across all three rankings.

SEC Teams ranked in Top 25

Tennessee is now the consensus top program in college baseball after sweeping Florida over the weekend. LSU is the consensus No. 2 team, and that’s where the experts stop agreeing on things.

Arkansas is ranked No. 3 by USA TODAY and D1 but is down at No. 7 on Perfect Game’s list. Georgia lands anywhere between No. 3 and No. 5 across all three lists, and Texas is between No. 4 and No. 6. Alabama is No. 12 on two of three lists, and gets the No. 11 spot from Perfect Game. Auburn, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt also make the top 25 across all three ranking services.
