Florida State women’s basketball (6-13, 1-6) fell to No. 23 North Carolina (15-5, 3-5) 82-55, on Sunday at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center. With the loss, FSU has lost six of the last seven ACC games.
Graduate guard Jasmine Shavers led FSU with 15 points, knocking down three 3-pointers out of sevent attempts and was 4 for 4 from the free-throw line. Junior Emma Risch added 10 points coming off the bench.

FSU was down early as the Tar Heels picked up a 17-8 lead in the first quarter. The offense couldn’t keep up with UNC’s momentum as the Tar Heels went on a run that put them ahead 38-18 at halftime.
FSU was outrebounded 40-28 and shot 29 percent from the field, making eight 3s on 25 attempts. UNC had a 26-point lead by the end of the third quarter. The Tar Heels led as high as 31 points, 71-49, in the fourth quarter.
Four of UNC’s starters reached double figures. Sophomore forward Ciera Toomey led with 14 points. Senior forward Nyla Harris added 13. Sophomore guard Lanie Grant dropped 12 and junior guard Reniya Kelly finished with 11 points.

What’s next for FSU basketball
FSU will head to Dallas to take on SMU on Thursday, Jan. 22. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET at the Moody Center.
The Seminoles will return to the Tucker Center to host Georgia Tech on Sunday, Jan. 25 at 4 p.m.
