Florida State Earns 2027 Verbal From World Juniors Qualifier Leah Chin

NEW COMMIT: Florida State University has scored another verbal commitment for the 2027-28 season and beyond from Leah Chin of Jacksonville, Fla. Chin is a talented sprinter who also competes for the Jamaican National Team.

She will join Aidyn Reese in Tallahassee in Fall 2027.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am extremely blessed and excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at Florida State University. I would like to thank my coach from Jamaica ,the coaches from Bolles, my family and friends for their continuous support through my journey. I would also like to say a big thanks to Coach Neal, Coach Zajic and the entire FSU coaching staff for this amazing opportunity. GO NOLES!!!”

Chin competed for Team Jamaica at the 2025 World Junior Championships where she competed in five events. She finaled in all six of her races at the XXXVIII Carifta Championship in April 2025.

She does her club swimming for Bolles School Sharks and raced to 16th place in the 50 free at Juniors East this past December while setting a new personal best during prelims.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 22.92
  • 100 free – 51.10
  • 100 back – 57.01

Currently a junior at The Bolles School, Chin placed second in the 50 free and seventh in the 100 back at the 2025 Florida 1A State Championships while helping her 4×50 free and 4×50 medley relays win gold. She was the 50 free runner-up in 2024 as well.

Chin will be a valuable asset to the Seminoles’ roster when she suits up, as her top time in the 50 free would already rank third on their lineup.
