Former Auburn 4-Star Commits to Big 12 Program

Throughout the last couple weeks in the transfer portal, the Auburn Tigers have been making some of the biggest splashes with bringing in talent to rebuild after narrowly missing out on a national championship.

The losses of Johni Broome, Tahaad Pettiford, and Chad Baker-Mazara are going to hurt, and they certainly are hard talents to replace.

Another player leaving the Tigers for the transfer portal is winger Jahki Howard, who did not get a lot of playing time as a freshman on a very experienced roster.

He enters his sophomore season, only this time he has announced that he is committing to the Utah Utes.

The 6-foot-6 freshman, while with limited playing time at Auburn, was good when in the game, with his best games coming early in the season before conference play.

He will get to be a part of the Utes heading into the 2025 season with a lot to build on and improve. The Tigers will certainly miss his potential, however they have a lot currently coming in.

They currently have the No. 17 ranked recruiting class in the country, according to On3, with three four-star freshman coming in.

Adding on to that, they have secured three more four-star transfers this portal window, including UCF’s Keyshawn Hall, Mississippi State’s KeShawn Murphy, and Texas Tech’s Kevin Overton.

While you never want to lose players in this day and age in college basketball, Bruce Pearl’s vision for this team is clear. The experienced players he is bringing in shines a bright light on an Auburn team hungry to get back to the Final Four, only this time with a different end result.
