Iowa head football coach Kirk Ferentz revealed on Thursday afternoon that offensive lineman Cody Fox is no longer part of the Hawkeyes’ program.
During a breakout session with reporters, Ferentz was asked if redshirt sophomore defensive back Teegan Davis and offensive lineman Cody Fox were still on the roster. The 27th-year Hawkeye head coach responded by indicating Davis is still part of the team, while Fox is not.

“Teegan is. Yeah, he made it. Cleared medically. I won’t say it’s a miracle, but it was a long shot. He was really fighting a tough battle. But he got cleared this summer and based on this past month, looks like he’s going to be ready to go.
“Cody’s not. Cody decided to walk away from football. Great kid,” Ferentz said.
The 6-foot-4, 289-pound offensive lineman who attended East Buchanan High School in Winthrop, Iowa, joined the Hawkeyes as a member of the program’s 2024 signing class and was listed as a four-star signee. Fox was ranked as the No. 4 prospect in the state, as the No. 26 interior offensive lineman as the and No. 407 overall recruit in the 2024 cycle, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.
Fox saw his first career action on the offensive line last season as he helped Iowa tally 241 rushing yards and 492 yards of total offense in their season-opening 40-0 shutout against Illinois State from Kinnick Stadium.
