
The Kentucky Wildcats entered a new era of the basketball program during the 2024-25 season, piloted by head coach Mark Pope.
Kentucky made its way to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament, defeating Troy and Illinois during March Madness. They lost to Tennessee in the Sweet 16.

Following the season, Pope and the Wildcats entered the rebuilding stage. They were active in adding transfer portal talent, but with the additions also came a few losses for Kentucky.
On Sunday, Travis Perry, a former blue-chip recruit who committed to Kentucky while John Calipari was the head coach, announced his decision to transfer to Ole Miss, per Joe Tipton.
Perry originally committed to Kentucky on Nov. 12, 2023. He then signed with the Wildcats three days later and enrolled in the program on June 6, 2024, per 247Sports.
The Kentucky native committed to Kentucky as a four-star recruit, ranked as the No. 7 point guard and the No. 78 overall player in the nation.

Before committing to the Wildcats, Perry received offers from multiple powerhouse programs, including Missouri, Cincinnati, Ole Miss, Michigan, Purdue and Indiana.

During his freshman season with the Wildcats, playing under Pope, Perry averaged 2.7 points, 0.8 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game.
Perry saw limited action during his first year at Kentucky. He played 9.8 minutes per game, having started four of 31 games for the Wildcats.
The former four-star will now have a new opportunity in the SEC.
