The UFC heavyweight division is in dire need of some depth, and perhaps they’ve found some in a former NFL linebacker.

New York Jets alumnus Anthony Wint has signed to fight Aug. 11 on Dana White’s Contender Series in Las Vegas, a person with knowledge of the situation recently informed MMA Junkie.

Wint, 30, trains out of Kill Cliff FC and is the Fury FC heavyweight champion. Wint (6-0) has finished all but one of his professional MMA fights since his debut in April 2023.

His pivot comes after his professional football career fizzled. He played four seasons at Florida International University (FIU) and went undrafted before he signed with the Jets in 2019 after a standout performance at the rookie minicamp. He was cut at the end of training camp but signed with the team’s practice squad.

Wint was promoted to the main roster mid-season and played in two games and registered a forced fumble. He was waived on the following offseason. Wint then signed with the Hamilton-Tiger-Cats of the CFL. When the season was canceled due to COVID-19, he opted out of his contract.

The DWCS 87 linep includes:

  • Jon Kunneman vs. Joseph Kropschot

  • Bilal Hasan vs. Mridul Saikia

  • Matt Adams vs. Anthony Wint
