Recruiting

While Notre Dame football has had some great success with legacy recruits, they don’t always reel them back to South Bend.

That was the case with Marshall Pritchett, a 6-foot, 5-inch and 211-pound tight end from Georgia. The son of Wesley Pritchett, the former Notre Dame linebacker who helped the Irish win the 1988 National Championship, saw Marshall initially committing to North Carolina.

That all changed on Tuesday morning, as the nation’s No. 404 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings flipped his commitment to the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Wesley was clearly proud of his son, as he mentioned that hard work has helped him achieve his own goals of playing collegiate football. It’s a bit odd that Notre Dame never offered Marshall, as he clearly is good enough to play a high-level of football. At the moment, the Irish don’t have a commitment at the position, so it probably would have made sense to at least reach out.
