It’s always great to see the Notre Dame football coaching tree bloom, and for former quarterback coach Gus Ragland, that’s exactly what has happened.
The former Miami (OH) quarterback quickly went into coaching following his playing career, as an offensive analyst for the Irish in 2019 according to miamiredhawks.com, moving to a graduate assistant working with the tight ends and wide receivers from 2020-2021 then moved to an assistant quarterbacks coach in 2022.

Ragland would then leave for his alma mater, taking over as their quarterbacks coach. Just three years later the move paid off in a big way, as he was named as the Redhawks offensive coordinator on Sunday according to Pete Nakos.
The move is a big one for the 29-year-old, as his rise through the coaching ranks has been impressive. While Miami has been his home for much of his football career, returning to where he started his coaching career could be in the future cards. Ragland’s career will be one to monitor, as head coach Marcus Freeman could have to replace more assistants and coordinators in the near future.
