Another former Ohio State football star is climbing up the coaching ranks and this time its with a rival Big Ten school. Mike Brewster started four years for the Buckeyes from 2008 through 2011 and earned All-American honors in 2010 as well as being named caption for the 2011 season. After going undrafted, the Florida native landed with the Jacksonville Jaguars for two seasons and had cups of coffee with the Miami Dolphins and New Orleans Saints before hanging up the NFL dreams.
Brewster first started his coaching journey at the high school level back in Florida with Orangewood Christian School in 2017 as both their offensive and defensive line coach. Since entering the coaching ranks, the former five-star recruit spent time as a graduate assistant at Western Michigan and Bowling Green before becoming a member of the defensive support staff for the Cincinnati Bearcats and eventually being promoted to quality control. He then went on to coach tight ends for Tennessee State and the offensive line for Valparaiso. He has now earned a huge opportunity by joining Jed Fisch and his staff with the Washington Huskies as its new assistant offensive line coach.
Fisch was the offensive coordinator during Brewster’s time in Jacksonville and that prior relationship surely played a role in this hiring.
